Das Nicäische Glaubensbekenntnis

Wir glauben an den Einen Gott,
    den Vater, den Allmächtigen,
    Schöpfer Himmels und der Erde,
    aller sichtbaren und unsichtbaren Dinge.

Und an den Einen Herrn Jesus Christus,
    Gottes einziggeborenen Sohn.
    Er ist aus dem Vater geboren vor aller Zeit
    Gott von Gott, Licht vom Licht
    wahrer Gott vom wahren Gott
    gezeugt, nicht geschaffen wesenseins mit dem Vater?
    Durch ihn ist alles geschaffen.
    Er ist für uns Menschen und um unseres Heiles
    willen vom Himmel herabgestiegen.
    Und er wurde Fleisch durch den Hl. Geist aus
    Maria der Jungfrau, und ist Mensch geworden;
    er wurde auch für uns gekreuzigt unter Pontius Pilatus,
    hat gelitten und ist begraben worden,
    und er ist auferstanden am dritten Tage nach der Schrift.
    Und er ist aufgefahren in den Himmel.
    Er sitzt zur Rechten des Vaters
    und wird wiederkommen in Herrlichkeit,
    zu richten die Lebenden und Toten,
    und seines Reiches wird kein Ende sein.

Und an den Heiligen Geist, den Herrn und Lebensspender,
   der vom Vater und vom Sohn ausgeht.
   Er wird mit dem Vater und dem Sohn
   zugleich angebetet und verherrlicht.
   Er hat gesprochen durch die Propheten.
   Und die eine, heilige, katholische und apostolische Kirche
   (una sancta catholica et apostolica ecclesia).
   Ich bekenne die eine Taufe zur Vergebung der Sünden
   und erwarte die Auferstehung der Toten
   und das Leben der zukünftigen Welt.

The creed from Nicaea and Constantinople

I believe (or: We believe) in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
 
And in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
 
And in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father (and the Son).
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
And in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
I acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
I look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.
